Introduction

While technical competence is essential for any professional, it takes more than technical competence to effectively impart their expertise to others. Effective instructors are vital to a flourishing training system and hence to the advancement of any organisation. This course will develop the professional trainer with the relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes required to effectively analyse an organisation’s training needs based on their organisational objective, develop, conduct and assess a course. You will also learn the required skills for fostering a positive learning environment, coach and motivate trainees, handle difficult participants while delivering an effective training programme

Course Aim

The On-the-Job Training Instructor (OJTI) Course is designed to equip Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) who hold or have held an ATC Licence/Certificate of Competence with the specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for effective instructional roles.

Key objectives include:

Develop Instructional Capabilities, provide the technical and pedagogical skills required to deliver effective on-the-job training (OJT) to trainees, both in simulators and in live traffic environments.

Optimise Job Performance, enable instructors to enhance the performance and competence of trainees through efficient and targeted training methods.

Prepare and Train Trainees, teach prospective OJTIs how to prepare, train, monitor, and assess both new trainees in initial qualification programmes and experienced controllers working towards unit competency requirements.

Monitor and Assess, develop skills to effectively monitor trainee progress and assess their competencies, ensuring that all training objectives are met.
