Introduction
As an Examiner/Assessor you will be involved in examining and testing (referred to an assessment). You will use assessments and assessment results, in order to monitor individual learner progress, to establish learner competence, to monitor training effectiveness and to provide an order of merit.
The assessment process should not be seen as a means in itself and in isolation from the learning process but should be regarded as part of the learning process. Assessment becomes a series of activities that take place to obtain evidence about a learner’s progression and competence. Different ways and techniques are used to gather evidence to assess learner’s progress throughout the whole learning process.
The information in this guide should be considered when compiling, administering, and evaluating written entry assessments, progress assessments and final assessments.
